Spent 14 hours at my desk imagining what a journal on Motherhood Studies would look like? I registered the domains JourMS.org and .com: Journal of Mother Studies. As I started building the website, I realized that I don’t need to argue for the place of Motherhood Studies in the academy. I have already been teaching it! Perhaps by building the journal I can feed the entire program and together, with good people, we can “legitimize” ourselves outside the academy. How did Harvard start, after all? Rather than fighting a rough battle, why not just do it. (Big Eureka moment).
